The Flathead County Sheriffs Office Search and Recovery Unit (Dive Team) is one of several specialized units in the agency. The Dive Team is part of the Special Operations Division of this Agency and is one of the highest rated public safety diving units in the State of Montana.
The Dive Team is a combined effort by dedicated civilian volunteers and sworn deputies. All divers are, at a minimum, Open water certified. All become Public Safety Diver certified with added specialties such as dry suit diving, ice diving, swift water rescue, etc. The team is heavily loaded with 24 divers that have achieved advanced Dive Agency ratings with multiple Instructors, Dive Masters, Master Divers, and Rescue Divers. The team has training in Underwater Criminal Investigation with specialties in underwater body, vehicle, and evidence recovery.
