A Message from Sheriff Brian Heino

Prior to taking office, one of my goals was to find more ways to inform the public about emergency services, alerts and general calls for service; that impact our daily lives.

Although not fully dependent on the use of modern technology, I feel we can accomplish a lot of our communication goals through social media and operational flexibility.

Much like my predecessor, my goal is to implement a stronger Community Policing effort throughout the county so that we are more visible and responsive to special needs in all areas.

My commitment to you, the tax payer and citizen of Flathead County I remain engaged with the public through meetings, social media and training; to provide the best service for all.

The child advocacy center allows the capability for centralized services. Children receive forensic interviews and forensic medical exams at the CAC in a child-friendly environment. The CAC utilizes a Multidisciplinary Team to provide comprehensive services to victims of child abuse.

The Flathead County Children’s Advocacy Center is a non profit government based Children’s Advocacy Center. The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office serves as the umbrella agency providing administrative support for the CAC. The FCCAC also has an advisory board consisting of one representative from each partner agency.

The multidisciplinary team is an interdisciplinary, coordinated systems approach to the investigation of child abuse. It is comprised of members representing law enforcement, prosecution, child protective services, medical and mental health. The collaborative communication between these disciplines contributes to effective prosecution of offenders when applicable and the service needs of victims and families being met.
